Rules and Policies
Rules
1) Absolutely no racism or bigotry of any kind (including towards those with a different sexual orientation to your self) will be tolerated. Please see P1.
2) Absolutely no flaming or deliberately offensive posts or pms will be tolerated.
3) If you wish to discuss other websites then please do NOT name them or any of their members.
4) Posts must belong to the poster, if they do not then the poster MUST obtain permission from the copyright holder before posting it here. In the case of news stories etc the poster must also post a link to the original site and it is the posters responsibility to ensure that they do not breach another sites/persons copyright and policies.
5) People registering on or after the 18th October will now need to post an introduction in order to obtain membership of the site in the first place. If you have not posted an introduction 14 days after registering your account will be removed without further notice. People who registered before this date who have still not posted an introduction will now be removed from the site, and will need to rejoin using the new system if they still wish to be a member.
6) Spamming the site will not be tolerated and you will receive only one warning for this before you are banned, and any spam posts will be instantly removed. Unauthorised advertising on this site is strictly forbidden, this includes the use of the PM system to advertise sites and businesses, in addition to posting about this.
7) Offensive/pornographic content will not be tolerated and will be removed immediately, and the poster warned. Please note that this includes links to outside sites that have content of a very explicit nature that some may find obscene. Links to sites with nude photos are acceptable so long as they are not of a sexually explicit nature. All links are accepted at the discretion of the admins. If in doubt please PM an admin with the link for a decision.
8) We have a minimum age for membership of 16. Anybody who is found to be under this age will have their account deleted without notice.
9) Use of bad language is tolerated within context. This is a mature site for mature people. However posts seen as containing excessive use of bad language, outside of the HardCAW forum, will require modification.
10) Members are required to post at least once in any 6 month period. Failure to comply with this will lead to account deletion. If for any reason you feel that you will be unable to post for an extended period then please let us know so that we can change your status to resting member.
11) Please do not 'bump' topics, this is considered to be akin to forum spamming (making pointless posts just to up your post count) and many consider it rude. If a topic drops to another page, then it's obviously not destined to be a busy topic, let it go. Bumped threads, where the person bumping the thread is the thread starter, will be locked and the bumper warned, where it is not the thread starter doing the bumping the bumper will be warned. If the moderators or admins consider a topic important, then they will make it sticky at their discretion. Our definition of bumping does not include the adding of further information to a topic, or the bumping of a topic that contains a genuine question that has not been answered after a week. Our definition of 'bumping' is where content is added to a thread purely for the purpose of bringing your own topic back onto the first page/back into the last 30 days display, without adding further information or questions to a thread. Please note also that the lounge is excluded from this rule.
Policies
P1) Racism and Bigotry - Our definition of racism is making derogatory or demeaning remarks against a racial/cultural group not your own (eg. suggesting a group to be less than human in any way, or unequal in any way), or stating a dislike for a racial/cultural group without reasonable cause or grounds, and isn't to be tolerated. Stating a dislike for a racial group or culture based on experience or knowledge however is a whole different ball game, and enters into the domain of freedom of speech and the right to have an opinion that may or may not be shared by others. If a person from said group or culture reads this then they then have the right to either argue against this view point, or to just walk away. We also will not tolerate it if it becomes obvious that somebody is carrying out a campaign of racial hatred on here, eg. continuously taking threads off topic with race rants, please note that this also comes under the heading of trolling.
P2) Dyslexia and posting – We do not tolerate anybody passing comment about a members spelling or grammar. Not everybody is perfect, and the person's ability to spell is not overly important to us.
P3) Grievance – If you are unhappy with a member of our team then please PM Gadget about this. If your Grievance is with Gadget, or you feel that your grievance has not been dealt with satisfactorily then please PM Wolfenrook. However please be aware that it is very rare that a member of our team will overrule another.
P4) Post content - The posts on here are the opinions of the poster only, and do not necessarily reflect those of the owners or site team. You follow any advice given in posts at your own risk, and we advice that in cases of a medical nature that you always consult your GP before doing or changing anything.
P5) Disciplinary – Anybody who breaks one of the site rules will be sent a pm warning them, and their warning level will be increased. Once a members warning level reaches the end this will result in an automatic ban.
P6) Copyright – Copyright of posts made on this site is retained by the poster. The poster however agrees to give license to ang-sites/The Cottage and members of this site, to quote or display their post on this site and no other. If a member wishes to quote another members post elsewhere then they must obtain that members permission before doing so.
P7) Our definition of a troll – Our definition of a troll is a person who deliberately posts contrary or argumentative posts in a thread purely to either be deliberately antagonistic to other members or purely for the sake of starting a debate/argument. Or a person who is consistently unpleasant and offends the majority.
P8) Our definition of spamming – Our definition of spamming is where a member posts links to outside sites either out of context, without first posting an intro, or as the majority of their posts.
P9) Signatures - We do not allow tickers, large images or multiple images, in signatures. A signature may contain one image of a maximum site of 600x100 pixels and up to 4 lines of text. As a general guideline a signature should be no larger than the size of your average post. Sigs that do not comply with this policy will be removed.
P10) Removal of posts – The site team reserve the right to remove or modify any post at any time that they find inappropriate for the site, we will however endeavour in most cases to request that you modify or remove the post yourself.
P11) Our Definition of Offensive/Pornographic content – Is any content that is either full frontal photographs (this does not include topless) or any imagery in any format that is of an explicit sexual nature.
P12) Classified ads – Items bought or sold in the classified ads section are purchased at the buyers risk. Any liability for items sold is assumed by the seller. The owners and site team of ang-sites/The Cottage accept no liability for damages etc, or the quality, of items bought or sold via the buy and sell forums.
P13) Please let the moderators and admins do their job. If a member is violating the rules, or behaving in a manner that is rude or bad netiquette, the moderators or admins will deal with that member when they see what the member has done. If nothing appears to have done then this could be either because the offending member has been contracted in private, or because a moderator or admin has not yet been on the site to deal with it.
P14) Comnmercial advertising is not permitted anywhere on the site without prior agreement with the site admins, for which a small fee will be levied.
P15) Public questioning of the site team will not be tolerated, and will be considered as rule breaking, and treated as such.
